The Workers Party – Birmingham held a well attended and spirited rally on Friday 3 December in Highgate, Birmingham.
In freezing weather just over 80 people ventured out to hear speeches from former Derby MP Chris Williamson, Birmingham section secretary Lauren Wilson, Community Team lead Reuben Lawrence and party leader George Galloway. The speeches were broken up with poem by Eugene Egan, party member and prospective candidate for Alum Rock in next year’s local elections and cde Nasri Barghouti a well-known Palestinian rights activist . Local artist Nehanda generously supported the rally by singing a mix of classic soulful tunes and performing her own powerful defence of J K Rowling “I am woman”.
The Birmingham party will be standing in a number of seats in next years local elections. A Crowdfunder is raising money for the campaign, if you wish to donate, please follow this link: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/birmingham-fund-wpb
